Ross Clennett - RossClennett.com
David, you make some great points in your article. What you don't say explicitly, although I am sure the implicit meaning is clear, is this: by exceeding agreed KPI's a consultant will succeed more quickly than they would otherwise.
Reference check failure costs recruiter $160K+19 November 2008 8:36pm
Simon Gould - News Magazines Pressure on consultants, from thier managers, to bill is increasing due to the level of competition in the market. This will see an increase in shortcuts and a continued decline in the quality of consulting services. Until some regulations are in place, and perhaps common law negligence...
Sophisticated recruiters will sell "talent churn" in the downturn18 November 2008 10:06am
Greg Savage - Aquent
Love the debate, and even if I am surprised at the tone of some of the feedback –I certainly understand some of the sentiments expressed.
Sophisticated recruiters will sell "talent churn" in the downturn18 November 2008 9:26am
AK - Here's a reality check guys, the talent pool is going to get deeper. Chances are there's more qualified people around looking for a job... are you serving your client's best interests by holding back better performing candidates when they most need high performers? Are you serving the candidate's...
Sophisticated recruiters will sell "talent churn" in the downturn17 November 2008 11:18am
Devil's Advocate -
Hasn't there been enough talent "churning" through redundancies and downsizing of late?
Can you help?17 November 2008 8:31am
Brad - RWR I have seen this a couple of times but cannot speak from a business owner point of view. I say this with a very broad stroke but if your terms of business are water tight a fee is due for the successful placement of a candidate into a clients business. If the recruiter has covered all bases at...
Ask an expert: How can I overcome call reluctance?12 November 2008 8:27am
Diana Heery - Science People
I agree that recruitment is all sales, selling your services to clients, the job and employer to candidates, and the candidate to the job.
Recruiters successfully defend injunction case on restraints11 November 2008 2:53pm
anonymous - I have particularly enjoyed the results of the ‘bully’ companies losing as they try to stop people from earning a living. Where has the mentality of there is enough to go round... and maybe these head honcho’s may like to even think that one day the company they are now working for started in...
Internal recruiters, it's time to talent pool07 November 2008 2:13pm
Another internal recruiter - Some of the comments from Agency recruiters over the last couple of weeks is a concern. It shows that even recruitment firms are struggling to find quality staff in the current market. SHow some respect to the overall function of what we all do.
"Desperate" recruiters using wrong approaches with HR05 November 2008 3:46pm
Irish Recruiter in Mel - Since arriving in Australia it has amazed me the way some of my agency colleagues speak about internal recruiters. My experience in Europe was a partnership approach that Shane and other speak about. What I cant understand is why this concept is so alien in Melbourne/Australia and the attitude we...
"Desperate" recruiters using wrong approaches with HR04 November 2008 11:01am
Philip Crenigan - De Jager and Associates One of the outcomes of the current ecenomic cycle will be the clear differentiation of leaders who rise to the challenge and those who do not. This will be a new experience for many and not all will succeed. It is a critical time for the HR profession to play a key leadership role in their...

With 11 years in the recruitment industry - success in internal and agency environments - it always surprises me the lack of professionalism from some agency consultants (8 out of 10). Internal and external is meant to be a partnership.
Qualify your clients to avoid wasting time04 November 2008 9:41am
in-house recruitment manager - leading industrial automation solutions company
I read this article with interest and there is something I would like to see added to the qualification process that recruiters go through and that is this question: Are you authorized by your company to manage this recruitment process?
Ask an expert: When is it not OK to headhunt?30 October 2008 8:53pm

I can't help thinking the rules need to be black and white. I really liked what Wendy initially wrote but felt that in her second response, she was taking a dangerous line. I thought what is important is the client and that includes whether they are past or present.
